It has been designed to explain what the Principal Designer must and should do and is aimed at those taking on the PD role whilst employing a CDM Advisor to assist them to discharge their duties.
It is based on material from our APS Accredited 3 Day Course in "The Management of Pre-Construction Health & Safety” which has also been assessed by the RIBA.

This course aims to provide knowledge of the functions of a Principal Designer for medium and large projects and also for those designers taking on the Principal Designer role for smaller and less complicated projects. It does not go into the detail of our 3 Day Course but will provide an insight into the duty holder requirements for compliance with CDM 2015.

For those who wish to join the APS, an individual who successfully completes an "Introduction to Principal Designer Role" course may claim points as allocated in the Qualifications and Experience table towards membership of APS. A copy of the certificate must be included with an application.
The introduction course content will include:

Introduction and Legislation
The Regulations - CDM 2015 and Duties
Risk Assessment, Health and Safety Compliance and Design Risk Management

The cost of the 1 day course “Introduction to the Principal Designer Role” is TBC. This course can be run via our tutor led webinars or we can come to you at a location of your choice.
