With 20 fatalities and 250 serious injuries each week involving drivers who drive for work, the Health & Safety Executive issued the Driving at Work Directive (2007) and at the same time introduced the Corporate Manslaughter Act (2007). In short this means that Employers are bound by law under the HSAWA (1974) to ensure that all drivers who Drive for Work are given information, supervision, assessment and training relevant to the equipment used. Company vehicles are now classed as the driver’s workplace.
