Mencap – Moving and Handling of People Training
Successful Result - S. A. Associates was successful in winning the Mencap contact for delivering their Objects, People & Moving training courses nationally.
Our team of 8 dedicated trainers deliver the training at a range of venues both internally and externally across the whole of England and Wales demonstrating & training on the correct use of equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs, slide sheets with their care staff who move and handle people with or without equipment as part of their induction training. To enable Managers within Mencap to fulfill their responsibilities and to ensure their own ongoing knowledge and skills, we deliver a People Handling for Managers course which is to be repeated every 3 years.

In the UK and Ireland the focus has been on changing staff behaviour at all levels towards safety, supported by strategic investment and the implementation of OSHA 18001, an externally verified safety risk management system.
One area of particular attention has been the safety of delivery drivers working on customer sites. We have invested heavily in new commercial vehicles to a higher specification than the norm in the agricultural supply industry, a lone worker monitoring and tracking system as well as comprehensive driver training. In addition, a behavioural safety programme has been specifically designed for us by S. A. Associates Management Training Company to meet the needs of our drivers.
